Essential Safety Tips
Time to hit the waves! Before we set out - safely first! Let’s cover some jet ski safety tips.
1. Check Weather
Sunny days and calm waters! That’s what you’re looking for, and it’s not hard to find in Miami.
2. Wear a Life Jacket
This is non-negotiable. Always have one ready and be sure it fits right.
3. Obey Speed Limits
Follow any designated speed limits to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.
4. Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Keep an eye out for fellow riders, boats, and marine life!
How to Ride a Jet Ski
First, make sure you are in a comfortable position. Then, use your lanyard key to turn on the ignition. Ensure that you are in a neutral throttle position to avoid sudden acceleration. Remember that there are no brakes, so in order to stop, you must release the throttle. A jet ski requires thrust to steer, so if you are going too slow or not moving at all, you won't be able to turn.
Top Jet Skiing Spots in Miami
Biscayne Bay and South Beach are the top spots for jet skiing in Miami! Looking for more? Haulover Park and Government Cut are also top spots to ride personal watercraft (PWC) in a family-friendly environment. Our favorite spot is Key Biscayne, where you can find more secluded coves and beaches!
Best Time of Year to Jet Ski in Miami
Jet skiing is possible year-round in Miami, but early spring or Late April is the best! There are other factors to consider, however, when looking for the best time to visit Miami. For instance, Spring Breakers descend on Miami from the first week of March to mid-April. Then, the summer months bring the biggest crowds, through June & July. It’s always busy here, but you can find smaller crowds in late April or early May.
